Photo requirements FAQ

Short answers to what travellers ask most about eVisa photos.

You can, if it already meets ICA specifications: 35 by 45 mm, plain white background, JPEG or PNG, and between 20 KB and 2 MB. Many national passport photos are taken at slightly different dimensions or on a non-white background, so it may not pass as-is. Upload what you have when you apply through Singapore Visa Online and our team will resize, recrop and adjust it before submission.

Glasses must be removed for the eVisa photo, including prescription frames and tinted lenses. There are no exceptions. Religious head coverings such as hijabs, turbans or yarmulkes are permitted, but your full face from forehead to chin must be clearly visible with no shadows cast by the headwear.

Photo issues are one of the most common reasons for eVisa delays. ICA has strict specifications and its automated checks flag photos that do not comply. When you apply through Singapore Visa Online, our team reviews and formats every photo before submission, so technical issues such as wrong dimensions, file size or minor background problems do not cause a rejection.

Yes. Photo formatting is included with every application at no extra charge. We resize to the exact 35 by 45 mm, crop so the face fills 70 to 80 percent of the frame, adjust the background if needed, and optimise the file size and format. You only need to upload a clear, well-lit photo of yourself.

Yes. A modern smartphone camera easily produces a photo that meets ICA quality. Stand in front of a plain white wall, use daylight or soft indoor light, hold the phone at eye level, and make sure the image is sharp. Remove your glasses, face the camera directly, keep a neutral expression and, if possible, have someone else take the shot. Our team handles the cropping and formatting after you upload it.

ICA requires the photo file to be between 20 KB and 2 MB, saved as JPEG or PNG. Photos taken directly with a phone camera are almost always in that range. Photos forwarded through messaging apps are often compressed below 20 KB and need to be retaken or re-exported. Our team optimises the file to the correct size and format when you apply.

Yes. The Singapore eVisa photo specifications are identical across all 30 eligible nationalities that we serve. ICA applies the same photo standards regardless of the passport country, so the rules on this page apply to everyone.

No. ICA requires a neutral expression with your mouth closed. A relaxed, natural face is fine, but visible teeth, wide smiles or exaggerated expressions will cause the photo to be rejected. Both eyes must be open and looking directly at the camera.

Do not let a photo hold up your visa

Upload any clear photo and our Singapore-based specialists will format it to ICA specs before submission. Cropping, resizing, background adjustment and file optimisation are all included with every application.
