Singapore is going to observe Hari Raya Pusasa or Eid ul Fitr this year with an artistic theme on its public transport. Commuters who use LRT transports will see eye-catching batik pattern floral decoration on the interior of the transports, which puts on a festive mood.
It is a collaboration between the Land Transport Authority (LTA), public transport operators SBS Transit, SMRT, and Go-Ahead Singapore, along with the Malay Heritage Centre.
All six MRT lines, along with bus numbers 7, 12, 70, 99, and 960, will have these decorations. The buses run on Geylang Serai and heartland areas like Boon Lay, Woodlands, Clementi, Tampines, and Bedok routes.
Apart from the transport, the MRT stations are also getting a makeover. Ang Mo Kio, Little India, Paya Lebar, Bugis, Boon Lay, Woodlands, and Tampines MRT stations will get a traditional Hari Raya decoration along with the traditional dishes that are enjoyed during this time.
The LTA also advised to be aware of increased traffic during this time. Public holidays and festivals like Good Friday, Qing Ming Festival, and Hari Raya Puasa might cause a bit of traffic jams because people are traveling back to their hometowns. So people are suggested to start their journey early and prepare for it. This will continue till the 14th of April 2024.
