Singapore’s Changi Airport is known for many things. The Rain Vortex, Butterfly Garden, and Orchid Garden are a few of them. It continues to mesmerize the travel experience, this time with the world’s largest sunflower display.
Titled ‘A Sunflower Sojourn,’ the exhibit showcases a breathtaking 5,000 sunflower blooms across the airport’s four terminals, Hub & Spoke, and Airport Boulevard. This vibrant display, which started from August 30 to September 30, 2024, blends art and nature with over ten (10) stunning sunflower varieties, including unique shades like red, pastel pink ‘Strawberry Blonde,’ mellow yellow ‘Florenza,’ and the classic golden yellow ‘Sunrise.’
The centerpiece of A Sunflower Sojourn is the magnificent topiaries scattered throughout the airport. At Terminal 3, a towering 8-meter sunflower sculpture is surrounded by 1,000 radiant yellow blooms, while a 5-meter rotating sunflower topiary graces Terminal 2. Beyond its visual appeal, the exhibit offers educational insights into the cultural significance of sunflowers, their historical uses in food and oil production, and their ecological importance.
In addition to the floral displays, visitors can buy sunflower-themed merchandise and food. At the Terminal 3 Departure Hall, exclusive sunflower-inspired items are on sale, including plush teddy bears in sunflower costumes, pouches, and acrylic magnets.
For food enthusiasts, Hub & Spoke Café has introduced new sunflower-themed treats such as sunflower-flavored soft-serve yogurt and sunflower butter toast.
