Experience a Week of Pure Badminton Competition in Singapore

Badminton fans often hear about packed arenas, big finals, and Olympic medals. But before those players reach that level, they go through quieter tournaments that many people never notice. The Singapore International is one of those stops that are not that famous, but very important.

The Badminton tournament will take place from 3 to 8 March 2026 at the Singapore Badminton Hall East Coast @ Expo near Changi Airport. It is also part of the Badminton World Federation International Series.

The players participating here are far from beginners. Most of them are ranked between 40 and 400 in the world. Some are reserve members of national teams, some are strong juniors moving into senior competition, and some of them are returning after injury. When you watch these matches, you often notice future stars long before they become widely known.

Teams come from all over the world. You’ll see strong squads from top Asian nations like Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), Hong Kong China, the Philippines, and Vietnam this year.

South Asian teams such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka join for experience, while players from Australia also compete. In total, about 30 to 40 countries usually participate, so you will get to see many different playing styles.

The main reason players come to this event is ranking points. In badminton, rankings affect almost everything, like entry into tournaments, funding, sponsorships, and national team selection. A strong performance here can move a player dozens of places up in the world rankings and open doors to bigger competitions. That’s why, even with small prize money, the opportunity this tournament provides is huge.

In simple terms, this tournament is where players test themselves before stepping onto bigger stages. If the Olympics is the peak of badminton, the Singapore International is one of the places where the climb truly begins.
